Negatives in Herbert Small's envelopes
These negatives in 6.5 x 11 cm format were found in two Herbert Small's envelopes. The company was a well-known photographic equipment dealer and service provider in Australia established in 1860. The envelopes are of earlier design and feature a fragment of Agfa advertisement poster designed by Marcello Dudovich. The original poster was released in 1930. By 1940 the design had changed. Note the address of the company office on the envelope: 16 Grenfell Street, Adelaide. The 1938-1939 season catalogue does not include Adelaide branch any more. Instead an address of Brisbane branch is given. This provides a time frame for when the envelopes were in use: after 1930 and before 1938. It is unlikely that old envelopes continued to be used after 1938 provided the branch in Adelaide was no longer operating.
The previous owner acquired the envelopes with the negatives somewhere in Central Victoria.
